Foothills County: rules and official contacts
- County sewer is limited to a few places (Cayley, Blackie, Priddis Greens and Hawk's Landing), and county water to a handful of subdivisions and hamlets. Everyone else is on private septic and a well or cistern. Foothills County: Sewer, Septic & Water
- Private septic systems must be inspected before backfill is complete. Book inspections by calling 403-603-6216, with at least 3 days' notice. Foothills County: Building Permits & Inspections
- The county doesn't plow private driveways and won't remove the windrow its graders leave across your approach. Graders start on gravel roads at 6 a.m. once more than 10 cm of snow has fallen. Foothills County: Snow & Ice Management Policy 701-008 (PDF)
- A new or changed approach onto a county road needs an approved Rural Approach Application. Check the current form or call Foothills County for the deposit, fees and inspections that apply. Foothills County: Application for Rural Approach (forms)
- A burn permit is required for all outdoor burning. Apply online or at the Heritage Pointe Fire Station, and call 1-888-808-3722 at least an hour before you light. Foothills County: Burn Permit
- The Agricultural Service Board enforces the Weed Control Act on private land, too. For help identifying or controlling a weed, call the Agricultural Fieldman at 403-603-5423. Foothills County: Weed & Grass Control
- Bulk water fill stations at Aldersyde, Blackie and West Foothills are open 24/7 and charge per cubic metre. Foothills County: Bulk Water Fill Stations
